What We Look For

Our Focus

We evaluate submitted ideas based on two key aspects:

  • Ethical Standards: The idea and the proposed activities must align with fundamental ethical principles and responsible research practices.
  • Feasibility and Resources: We assess whether the planned activities are plausible, realistic, and achievable with the applicant’s skills, infrastructure, and the requested resources.

We do not rank ideas against each other. We simply make sure that your project is ethically sound and practically implementable.

Why This Approach - Our Philosophy

Innovation is unpredictable – and that's a good thing.

Instead of judging ideas based on assumed future success, we focus on enabling good ideas to grow responsibly and effectively. Our role is to provide support, not to act as gatekeepers.

How We Assess and Support Your Idea

IRL-Level Monitoring – Understand Your Innovation Journey

To guide you on your innovation journey, we use the KTH Innovation Readiness Level™ (IRL-Level) model (under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). It’s a simple but powerful tool to understand where your idea stands – and what the next steps could be.

Innovation Path @ IFW — From idea to market. We monitor your idea’s development and allocate resources to help it grow and succeed.

Using the IRL model, we map your idea’s development from first concept to real-world application. This self-assessment helps you (and us) monitor progress, identify strengths, and tailor support – without making early judgments about success or failure.

Your idea evolves. We evolve with it.
